If you’ve been scrolling and come across Michelle’s 2 hour baguettes you will definitely want to make them. We have and they’re great! So here’s all the bits to get you started.
These will let you make the bread over and over, so can’t go wrong – you might even get creative with it!
Active Yeast – You need yeast to make any bread but this active yeast works pretty darn quickly once it’s in water with a little sugar.
Perfect for making that bread dough rise! A little goes a long way.
Pizza Flour – Whilst we appreciate you probably have some flour in your cupboard, it is needed for making bread.
This pack is one we like, you get three bags of flour for the price that one might cost!
So yes, you can keep on rolling out those baguettes.
Chef’s Larder Table Salt – The third big ingredient is salt. If you plan to make baguettes each day you will need a fair amount of salt, a bit more than that regular salt shaker.
This Chefs Larder is a known and trusted brand – it’s in the name!
Sugar – Yes most breads have a little sugar in them. You can’t go wrong with this deal of a sugar box.
Made for cooks, this is a 3kg box of granulated cane sugar. Has a handle for pouring. So no matter how many baguettes you go for, you’ll have sugar on hand that won’t affect your cuppas!
Mixing Bowls – You’ll need at least one mixing bowl to bring all this stuff together.
We like this set from Lakeland, use the small one for activating the yeast, medium for the dry ingredients and the large for combining both,
Lakeland bowls are sturdy so if you get into cooking these will last you a good long time!
Has lids, which is ideal if you decide to leave your dough to rise in the fridge overnight instead of doing the 2 hour thing.
Dishwasher safe too – because we hate the mess after baking
Measuring Cups – If you’ve watched Michelle’s vid you know she just wangs in a cup or two here and there.
She doesn’t mean an actual mug from your cupboard but one of these.
Nice little stackable set, with cup, half up and smaller measurments.
Baking Mat – Once your bread mix has risen, Michelle tells you to get out the dough, break it up into separate balls and roll it together. That means you’ll have to flour a surface and well have you ever tried clearing that shiz up?!?!?!
You won’t want that all over your counter, so that’s where a baking mat comes in handy.
This one is good for future bakers because it also has measurements for different loaves.
Bench Scraper – This bench scraper is not only ideal for cutting through the dough and scraping it out of the bowl or off the mat.
It’s also helpful for clean up after, scoop the remaining flower into a pile and yeet it in the bin.
Again this one is dishwasher safe, because we love that!
Baguette Trays – Perhaps the most famed part of the video is slapping those twisted loaves into baguette trays.
These trays are perforated so your bread can cook underneath, whilst getting that crusty topping we so love from baguettes.
This one makes 4 decent sized loaves and fits in the oven top shelf nicely.
Master Baker Apron– Once that bread is out of the oven, let it cool – well we know you won’t wait and tear into your very first.
We hope you’ll look great in this master baker apron!
Funny, cool and you’ve deserved it!
We can’t deny that Michelle’s two hour baguettes have made us reconsider heading to the shops when breaking out the pastas and deli meats.
Now we’re set to make them quickly and regularly, without all the weird additions that get slammed into store-bought breads.
