If you have a cat, no doubt you also have a box full of toys, from string to mice, to balls and ribbons cat toys often take a very similar approach. So here we are trying to change things up by sharing some of the more unusual cat toys available on the market that hopefully your cat will love!
The wooden cat toy box – This is an interactive puzzle box made of wood and designed to look cute. Smooth edges make it safe for the cats to use.
It’s pretty much a game of ‘whack a mole’ but with mice, which your cat can play alone or play with you!
The Lifefav Interactive Teaser Toy – This one freaks me out a bit but it reminds me of plastic snakes that 80s kids played with.
Basically it’s a random moving centre piece with a wildly bendy plastic tail which attaches on. It will definitely keep your act active and entertained and the irregular movement keeps them guessing, the thing can thwip about, spin or shake all over.
Needs batteries but turns off after 10 mins so batteries won’t run flat if you’ve wandered off.
The Buggin Out Puzzle Set – Cats can have puzzles too. This set won’t appeal to every cat and your cat may need an initial coax to use it but it’s actually surprising when used in a group of kitty cats to see which one is the smartest and can figure out the puzzle quick sticks.
You put small treats in gaps and cover with the leaves, some need the ladybirds moving before the treat can be accessed. Out of our cats, one took to it really well, the other took a bit of time and still prefers the easier leaf-moving puzzle bits hahaa…
Flapping Flying Squirrel Cat Toy – This is a bit nuts, it’s pretty much a toy on a string as a normal cat toy would be but it comes with a motor inside that moves the arms of the squirrel. If not on the string the squirrel can flap about the floor.
You can also stuff catnip inside and the motor can come out so the squirrel can be cleaned. It’s USB charge powered so no buying repeat batteries.
It’s a bit noisy so for a braver cat but definitely a good item for a cat who loves the chase and likes to get themselves some prey – let’s just hope they don’t bring home any real squirrel presents!
Large Cat Exercise Wheel – If you’re willing to go all out with no expense spared for your cat then the exercise wheel may quickly become their favourite toy. This is LARGE so you are warned.
It’s pricey but it’s pretty much a treadmill for cats. It’s surprisingly stable, built with a cat in mind so no pinch points for paws and like a hamster wheel, it doesn’t need electricity just animal power to run! So if you can spend more, consider an exercise wheel for your cat…And yes you can lock it when they get too addicted!
6 Pack Catnip Toys – These are catnip toys with a bit of a difference, coming in with a spicy theme, your cat doesn’t get the usual mouse or fish shapes but gets a chilli bottle, avocado, pepper, taco, tortilla chip and piñata.
For the cat that’s well travelled or likes themselves some Mexican food this may be the ideal little gift set to keep them busy.
Political Leader Cat Toy – With May local elections approaching in the United Kingdom, all of us are getting sick of seeing political leaflets.
Set your cat on a politician with this great Kier Starmer themed pet toy. There’s a whole bunch of others too, from Boris and Gove to our American friends Joe Biden and Donald Trump!
The Blackhole Catch Cat Toy – This has a number of ways to use it, first you can have string with feather toy, rotating to keep your cat busy but that’s kinda normal.
The beauty of this toy is it comes with with a tarp so the toy can move and be harder to detect. This toy is used in a lot of cat homes to keep groups of kitties busy so it will definitely be a hit with a home-based mog.
Knife Shaped Catnip Toys – It’s miles away from Halloween but if your cat is a bit of a sicko they might enjoy these knife shaped cat toys.
They’re plush and have catnip inside so your cat can chew and wrestle them to their murderous heart’s content. The cat looks absolutely hilarious swinging them around because who would ever expect to see a cat with an axe or butcher’s knife. Fun times.
FTASPIER Cat Kicker – Now this one looks weird but we did say the toys would be unusual.
Once it’s switched on and your cat activates the motion sensor it goes crazy flopping all over the place and keeping your cat active. It’s USB chargeable so no worries about batteries and the cover is washable.
Green is the only colour at the moment but I’m sure black and pink won’t be too far away…..
